Beauty Tips

When it comes to title, true beauty is in the completeness, accuracy, and clarity of the information contained in your abstract. That said, formatting issues, spelling/grammar errors, and other “superficial” problems can certainly detract from the overall beauty of your work and make you seem less professional. Here are my top 3 tips to keep your title looking good:
  1. Presentation is key. Your work should be well organized, easy to follow, and formatted properly. What exactly this entails will depend on your specific ownership reports and runsheets and your employer/client preferences. In any case, the information contained in your reports should be presented in a clear and consistent way. Don’t forget to pay attention to font styles and sizes, row/column borders and tabs/margins.
  2. Use spellcheck and look over what you write. Misspelled words and poor grammar make your work look sloppy. Furthermore, if you regularly misspell words that are commonly used in title, it can make you look like you don’t really know what you are doing.
  3. Images included in your abstract should be clear and presented in an organized manner. If you are using a scanning app (my favorite is CamScanner), make sure that you do not cut off any part of the document, that the final image is clear enough to read, and that the pages are right-side up and in the proper order.
