Recently I received a question about how to best utilize LinkedIn to get calls from recruiters and/or hiring managers that check out your profile. I thought it would be helpful to share my recommendations with you all as well:

1. Make sure your profile is complete and work experience is detailed. Think of it as a resume where you want to showcase what you achieved, not just state the day-to-day functions of the job. I think this is especially important for field landmen, because if you just state that you have been a field landman for x number of years, without giving any more info, it doesn’t provide a very complete picture of your abilities and capabilities (and there is a big range of abilities and capabilities amongst landmen).

2. Make sure it is obvious that you are open to new projects. Again, this is especially important for field landmen because they are often listed as having a role in their LLC, so it is not clear whether they are available for work.

3. It helps to be active by sharing posts and commenting on other’s posts (as long as it is done professionally and respectfully) because those posts and comments will appear on your profile and can help you share more about yourself with prospective employers/brokers. Additionally, it can help draw more of them to your profile in the first place.
