When I first started working as a title reviewer several years ago, one of my biggest grievances was when abstractors took shortcuts and copied each other’s title. I remember that, one day, the owner of the company called me and asked what kind of issues I was seeing. When I told him of my complaint, he asked if the abstractors were copying bad title. I told him that the title was good, but it just wasn’t theirs. The title on the first parcel was correct, but even if some of the documents applied to the parcel next door, not all of them were applicable, and the abstractors weren’t taking the time to identify the differences. I see similar situations play out for people in other areas of life as well. What works for you will not work the same for someone else (and vice versa) because their story and talents are different from yours. Remember the words of Dr. Seuss: “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” Use your voice, find your path and choose to shine in the way that only you can. We all have something unique to offer.
